Understanding the Intoxalock Installation Process

Dealing with a DUI charge is a difficult and stressful experience, but it's important to take the necessary steps to regain your driving privileges and ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road. One of the first steps in this process may be installing an ignition interlock device (IID), also known as Intoxalock, in your vehicle. If you're feeling overwhelmed or confused about the Intoxalock installation process, here is everything you need to know from JNG Auto about the install.

What is Intoxalock?

Intoxalock is a small device that is installed in your vehicle and connected to the ignition system. It works by requiring the driver to submit a breath sample before starting the vehicle. If the sample shows a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above the set limit, the vehicle will not start. Intoxalock helps ensure that drivers with DUI convictions are not able to operate their vehicle while under the influence, protecting both the driver and others on the road.

During and After Installation

During the installation, our Intoxalock technicians will begin by inspecting your vehicle's ignition system and then connect the device to the ignition. From there, they’ll install the breathalyzer unit, usually near the driver's seat. Once complete, our technician will explain how to use the device and provide you with a user manual and any necessary paperwork.

Intoxalock can be a life-changing installation for those with DUI convictions or those who want to take proactive precautions. At JNG Auto, we’re proud to offer Intoxalock installation to customers in Salt Lake City, so give us a call to get an appointment scheduled today.
